During his playing career, he was part of teams that achieved 14 league championships and 11 Japan Series titles, earning the nickname “the championship specialist.” He recorded a total of 224 career wins and maintained an active professional career for 29 seasons, officially announcing his retirement in 2011.

In 2015, he was appointed Manager of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, leading the team to five Japan Series championships over seven seasons until stepping down in 2021.

He completed a Master’s degree in Physical Education at the Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba, in 2020. Since 2022, he has been enrolled in the university’s doctoral program, where he is engaged in research and health screening initiatives toward obtaining a PhD in Sports Medicine.

In 2019, he became independent, leveraging expertise across sports business and consulting. He has supported numerous projects in strategy development, marketing, business development, and public relations, collaborating closely with professionals across each field.

He is also the founder and representative of the international tournament “Asia Koshien,” through which he has built an extensive network across Japan and Southeast Asia. His strength lies in a hands-on, execution-oriented approach, working closely with stakeholders on the ground to drive initiatives from concept through implementation.
